Building Waste Management Monitoring Focused in Sudirman-Thamrin

Jakarta Environment (LH) Dept. will focus to monitor waste management in multi story buildings located in Sudirman-Thamrin area.

We prioritize buildings in Sudirman-Thamrin according to governor's referral

Jakarta LH Dept. Deputy Head, Ali Maulana Hakim explained, this monitoring is according to Governor's Decree (Kepgub) No. 279/2018 about Integrated Monitoring Team for Infiltration Well and Water Treatment Plant Provision and Groundwater Usage in Multi Story Buildings and Settlements.

"We prioritize buildings in Sudirman-Thamrin according to governor's referral," he stated, Thursday (3/15).

He mentioned, all building owners should obey the waste quality standard. For buildings that have waste above the standard level will get penalty.

"The penalty is by getting a coercive letter to repair its waste management within 30 days," he affirmed.

He added, his side will seal building's sewerage if building management side doesn't comply with this regulation.

"If building owner side is still not obeying the rules, then we will apply Environment Minister Regulation No. 2/2012. In that regulation, the violators can get penalty Rp 3 billion and penal code," he said.
